Long Term Guests

Residents come to the caring environment of Dauntsey House from widely varying religious, ethnic and cultural backgrounds. Whilst we cater for permanent residents within our house, many of our residents are temporary guests while their family are on holiday or have had a minor accident and need a little help to care for themselves.

Dauntsey House has fully qualified carers on site twenty four hours a day. We care for both the elderly and infirm. Help is always on hand for any situation, be it big or small. The team of care assistants is fully supported by a team of domestic, laundry, catering and admin staff. Whilst we are not a nursing home, we work closely with district nurses and GPs to support our residents.

Residents can enjoy three freshly cooked meals a day, prepared by our on-site chefs. The menus are extensive and are changed every day so our residents can enjoy a wide and varied diet. Tea, coffee, juice and biscuits are available throughout the day or whenever the need arises. A wide range of vegetarian and vegan dishes are available if necessary. If any special dietary requirements are needed then these will be faithfully observed

If residents wish to visit the local shop then arrangements can be made, as it is located a half a mile away down the high street. Additional facilities available include visiting hairdressers, chiropodist, dentist and opticians.

Public rooms on the ground floor provide ample space for a pleasant social area. These include our lounge, dining room and a conservatory, where residents are free to relax.

We have 20 registered rooms at Dauntsey House. Our residents have their own single room, which provides a warm retreat when privacy is preferred. All rooms are equipped with emergency call bells, smoke detectors, wash basin, TV point and central heating.

A private telephone can be installed if required.

We also have a lift for those unable to use the stairs.

Well-Being Coordinators talk with residents to find out what activities they enjoy. This helps to stimulate and maintain both their physical and mental well-being by setting realistic targets and encouraging residents to participate in varied activities to meet individual needs.

Residents are encouraged to furnish their own rooms with personal belongings to give each room its own personal touch.

To boost well-being, we feel strongly about forging links with our local community. To this end we ...
  • Have monthly visits from the local library service
  • Welcome PAT dogs for regular visits
  • Hold a monthly toddler group (Tots Time)
  • Have monthly Communion Services, led by a local vicar
  • Have close links with Lavington Pre-School, who visit us termly
  • Have ties with Dauntsey Academy Primary School and Lavington School, who visit for special events
